About This Opportunity

The Alpine Retreat is regularly voted among New Zealand's top luxury lodges. Our kitchen focuses on farm-to-table cuisine using premium South Island produce, and our guests include international celebrities, heads of state, and luxury travellers.

Role overview

  • Assist Head Chef in menu planning and daily mise en place
  • Lead a team of 3–4 kitchen hands and junior chefs
  • Maintain food hygiene standards (NZ Food Safety Level 2)
  • Create and test new dishes aligned with seasonal produce

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 3 years in a professional kitchen at sous chef level
  • Formal culinary qualification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of dietary requirements and allergen protocols
  • Eligible for NZ Working Holiday Visa or Accredited Employer Work Visa
